Ratio, Proportion, and percent Story Problems

Hugo buys an 8-ounce bag of snack mix.  By weight, the snack mix is 35% pretzels, 50% peanuts, and 15% puffed rice.  Hugo removes the puffed rice, which he dislikes, and eats all the pretzels and peanuts.  How many ounces of food does he eat?

A basketball team scores on five of every eight possessions--that is, it scores five of every eight times it controls the ball.  In a certain game, it does not score on 24 possessions.  How many times does the team score in this game?
